The Community Development Division administers the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Human Services General Fund Grant programs, which fund services and projects benefiting income-qualified residents that meet the HUD Income Qualifications.
Community Development Block Grant
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), which are provided by the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), funds programs that provide human services or public service infrastructure services, including:
homeless shelter and food pantry services
domestic violence support
medical / dental services
economic development activities which create and retain jobs
Human Services General Fund Grant
The Human Services General Fund Grant, which is funded by up to 1% of the City of East Lansing's General Fund budget, funds programs that provide human service activities, including:
