As a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) entitlement community, the City of East Lansing is required per federal guidelines to submit a Consolidated Plan document to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) every five years.
About the Consolidated Plan
The Consolidated Plan is a detailed report, presenting HUD with information regarding demographic and socio-economic population information as well as an assessment of strategic priorities for programming and projects the City intends to fund with CDBG dollars over the course of the next five years. Key funding areas include homelessness, anti-poverty prevention, housing and community development activities.
The Consolidated Plan is currently in draft form and available for review and public comment. The 30-day comment period began April 18, 2016 and will end on May 18, 2016. The East Lansing City Council will hold a final public hearing about the document, prior to its submission to HUD, on May 24, 2016 at 7 p.m. at 101 Linden Street in East Lansing, MI.
Individuals wishing to comment on the document should email Amy Schlusler at email@example.com. All written comments received will be forwarded on to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
