Approval After an extensive review process, City Council approved the development proposal. The approval was subject to the removal of one story from the building, reducing the proposal from a five-story to a four-story building. Construction on the site is expected to begin in June 2014.
Site Plan Application
An application for the proposed Trowbridge Village Lifestyle Center (located at 920-940, 950-956, 962-968, 990, 1000 and 1020 Trowbridge Road) from Trowbridge Village, LLC for site plan and special use permit approval has been submitted to the City of East Lansing Planning Commission.
The proposed redevelopment project involves the remodeling of 46,224 square feet of existing retail space and 76 apartments in a four-story building (12 studios, 8 one-bedroom units, 56 two-bedroom units), along with associated parking. The property is zoned B-2, Retail Sales Business District.
Brownfield Redevelopment Plan Application and Approval
A proposed Brownfield Plan associated with the Site Plan application was submitted by the Developer. The plan was approved by the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority on March 27 and by the City Council on May 20, 2014. An amended Brownfield Plan was approved by the Brownfield Redevelopment authority on August 28, 2014 and by the City Council on October 7, 2014.
