The City of East Lansing is calling on residents to join in the 2012 Winter Warm-Up and Blues’ Community Challenge, a regional fitness competition pitting nine mid-Michigan communities against each other to compete for its share of $10,000 in grant funding.
Community Partners in Health (CPH) joins together with Blue Cross, Blue Shield each year to offer this eight-week challenge, which strives to encourage positive daily lifestyle habits for mid-Michigan residents.
How It Works
Community members can log their physical activity, including walking, running, biking, lifting weights, shoveling snow and more. The community with the most people logging the most physical activity will win the most cash, which will help support public health and wellness projects in the community. The first place community will win $3,000. This year’s challenge kicked off on Saturday, Jan. 21 and will continue through March 10.
Register Today!
Community members can join Team East Lansing led by team captain, Mayor Diane Goddeeris, by visiting www.cphlansing.com. Step-by-step registration instructions are available to walk community members through the registration process.
Trail Mileage
Community members are encouraged to get their walking, running or biking in along East Lansing’s beautiful, natural trail ways. A trail map, featuring mileage at a number of East Lansing parks, has been compiled to help community members find easy ways to find mileage.
