Refuse, Yard Waste & Recycling Collection
Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement
Saturday, May 31, 2008
8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Abbott Center, 1400-1500 Abbot Road
Project Pride is a community spring clean-up and recycling project geared toward
helping East Lansing residents clean up their homes and yards by recycling, or donating
for reuse, common household items.
It uses
money collected at the event to offset disposal and operational costs. Project Pride
annually donates any remaining funds back to the City for beautification or environmental
projects.
East Lansing Residents are eligible to participate in Project Pride
and must bring proof of residency to the event. A list of commonly accepted items
and those that are prohibited are listed below.
Pickup for Seniors and Handicappers: Curbside pick-up of items
is available for a small fee for seniors and persons with disabilities. Residents
who would like a pick up must call the Prime Time Seniors Program at 337-1113 by
May 29, 2008 to schedule a pick-up. The cost for the pick up is $10. All items for
collection should be at the curb or in an easily accessible location in a garage.
Where do I go for Project Pride? The Hinnman Company generously
donates the use of the Abbot Center Parking lot for the event. The Abbot Center
is located at 1400-1500 Abbot Road, just north of the intersection of Abbot and
Saginaw Hwy. Residents should access the Abbot Center from Kendale Blvd. Take Saginaw
to Kendale Blvd. (first street east of Abbot/Saginaw intersection). Turn north
on Kendale. Proceed north on Kendale to the stop sign and turn left onto Woodland
Pass. Enter the Abbot Center from the north entrance.
Donations to Charitable Organizations: Both the Salvation Army
and St. Vincent Catholic Charities will be at Project Pride accepting donations of household items.
Both of these organizations accept a wide array of items and we strongly encourage
you to view their Web sites or contact them with questions about specific items
that you wish to donate. St. Vincent's web site is: www.stvcc.org
and the Salvation
Army web site is: www.usc.salvationarmy.org/wmni.

Please bring only items that are recyclable or reusable. Items which must
be disposed will require a disposal fee or should be taken home with you.
