Meet the Staff

There are three ways residents can dispose of yard waste:

1) Curbside Yard Waste Collection: March 31 through November 24, 2008
The Department of Public Works collects yard waste curbside on Mondays (spring through fall). Residents need to request yard waste pickup by 1) calling and leaving a message at DPW's 24-hour number, 351-4999 or 2) calling 337-9459 during regular business hours or 3) submitting an e-mail request. All requests must be received by 7:30 a.m. on Monday for collection that day.

Yard waste must be contained in $1 City yard waste bags (paper) or bundled with a City yard waste sticker. [learn more]

2) No-Fee Curbside Yard Waste Collection: April 7, 21 and May 5, 2008
Residents have the opportunity to dispose of yard waste for free (advanced phone request is not required) on the three days listed above. Please remember that yard waste must be at the curb by 7:30 a.m. and may not be contained in plastic bags or Easy Carts.

There is NO bulk item pickup on these days.

3) Bulk Leaf Collection
Each fall, the Street Division conducts a bulk leaf collection for East Lansing. During this collection, no bags, stickers or fees are required.

Simply rake your loose leaves, grass clippings and plant material (no brush) between the curb and sidewalk. If there is no curb, rake leaves to within three feet of the road. Please E. NOT rake leaves into the road as they block storm drains. [learn more]
