Refuse, Yard Waste & Recycling Collection
Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement
In an effort to modernize
and simplify neighborhood trash collection, the City requires
owners of
single-family and two-family dwellings to purchase 1) Easy Carts (city-wheeled
carts) OR 2) Yellow Bags (city-issued trash bags) for collection.
Important Notice: Beginning March 1, 2008 all residents who purchase a single- or two-family household will be required to purchase an Easy Cart for trash collection. On October 1, 2008 all residents living in a single- or two-family household will be required to use Easy Carts and/or yellow bags.
Option 1: Easy Carts
Residents have the option of purchasing a 32-, 64- or 96-gallon Easy Cart (city-wheeled carts) for trash collection. Refuse should be placed at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on collection day. Refuse that exceeds the easy cart must be placed in yellow bags. Pleast contact (517) 337-9459 to purchase an easy cart. [Easy Cart FAQ]

Option 2: Yellow Bags
Residents have the option of purchasing yellow bags (city-issued trash bags) for trash collection. Refuse should be placed at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on collection day. A package of five can be purchased for $5.
