East Lansing History Behind Glass
Contribute to East Lansing's Traveling Historic Display Case
In honor of East Lansing's 100th birthday, the East Lansing Historical Society and
Centennial Commission are currently asking residents to donate or loan historic
keepsakes to the East Lansing History Behind Glass display case.
Available for public view on the second floor of the East Lansing Hannah Community
Center, the display case will feature a number of historical items consistent with
the following four themes: schools/neighborhoods, local businesses, city government
and religion. Items will be featured in the case (dimensions: 38 inches wide, 14
inches high and 14 inches deep) over three-month periods in 2007.
Residents interested in sharing their East Lansing-specific historic keepsakes with
the public are asked to mail or drop off items at East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbott
Road, or the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbott Road, throughout 2007.
Contributors should include their name, address, phone number and a brief history
of the item. Attention should be given to East Lansing Historical Society liaison,
Ron Springer.
Special Note: All items are subject for approval by the East Lansing
Historical Society. Owners may pick up their submitted items at the conclusion of
the 2007 East Lansing Centennial Celebration. For more information on size restrictions
and other matters please contact Springer at (517) 319-6901.
