Fall Bulk Leaf Collection Extended on City’s West Side

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The East Lansing Department of Public Works (DPW) has extended fall bulk leaf collection on the City of East Lansing’s west side, with a fourth week of collection scheduled for the week of Nov. 28.

The west side includes the west City limits at Coolidge and West roads to Abbot Road. Leaves should be raked to the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28 to ensure collection.

Residents who live on the east side of the City, from the east City limits at Park Lake to Abbot Road, are reminded that fall bulk leaf collection has also been extended on the east side, with a fourth week of collection taking place next week. Leaves need to be raked to the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21 to ensure collection.

Residents are reminded that leaves should be raked to the curb or edge of the road and not into the roadway. As witnessed during the rain event two weeks ago, a significant amount of roadway flooding is caused when drainage structures are clogged with leaves in areas where they have been raked into the roadway.

Residents are also reminded that the final yard waste collection day of 2016 is next Monday, Nov. 21. Learn more at www.cityofeastlansing.com/yardwaste.
