The City Manager is the City's chief administrative officer. Major responsibilities include oversight of the annual budget and long-range financial planning, supervision of all City departments, coordination and development of services and programs, and implementation of City Council's strategic priorities and policy decisions. The Manager reports to and is appointed by the City Council.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Fiscal Challenges - Following two months and more than 40 presentations to residents regarding East Lansing’s fiscal challenges, City Manager Theodore Staton will wrap up his community outreach with one final community-wide budget forum at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28 at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center.
  • 2008 Community Survey Results - view the public opinion community survey that was conducted in September 2008 to gauge residents' overall satisfaction with the City and its services.
  • City Publications - download a number of City publications including the Dialog, Curbside Journal, Activity Guide and Prime Time Newsletter.
  • Legislative Update - a summary of current legislative issues facing local government.
  • Requesting Banner Space - the City works with local organizations to promote upcoming events in East Lansing by placing banners in one of two highly visible locations. Banners may be placed free of charge for a maximum of two weeks, space permitting.
