Little GirlThe City of East Lansing conducted a public opinion community survey in September 2008  to gauge residents' overall satisfaction with the City and its services. Randomly-selected registered voters were contacted via telephone to answer questions about the East Lansing community and the services the City provides.

Community Survey Results (55 questions)

 

According to the results, 97 percent of registered voters agreed that East Lansing is a good place to live. Respondents cited the intellectual atmosphere surrounding the Michigan State University campus, the family friendly community environment and the attractiveness of East Lansing neighborhoods and the downtown as characteristics they liked most about East Lansing. The survey also demonstrated that 94 percent of respondents are satisfied with the overall quality of services provided by the City of East Lansing.

 

The survey was administered by Adaptive Research Systems in East Lansing. The professional consulting company has compiled surveys for the City of East Lansing in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2003. In 2008, 600 residents were interviewed, yielding a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.

 

The 2008 poll marks the sixth public opinion survey conducted by the City of East Lansing since 1995.
