Code Enforcement & Neighborhood Conservation (CENC) protects the built environment of the City through regulation of new and existing buildings. The Building Division regulates newly constructed, altered or changed buildings and the Housing Division provides for the safety of existing residential buildings. The mission of the department is to build and promote a safe city and enhance neighborhoods through excellent services of a dedicated staff.

HIGHLIGHTS

Residential Rental Restriction Overlay District - Ordinance 1035C limits rental licenses in East Lansing neighborhoods by allowing residents to petition City Council to adopt a zoning ordinance which would prohibit or restrict rental licenses in EL neighborhoods.
