EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing is currently seeking community nominations for the 2012 Crystal Awards.

The Crystal Awards, hosted annually by the East Lansing City Council, honor individuals, groups, organizations, businesses and commercial enterprises that have gone above and beyond to enhance the quality of life in East Lansing. Community members are encouraged to help the City in honoring East Lansing’s unsung heroes by submitting nominations for deserving candidates.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, Feb. 17 and an online nomination form is available at www.cityofeastlansing.com/crystalawards. Paper forms are also available at East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road, and the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road. Paper forms can be mailed to Crystal Awards, 410 Abbot Road, East Lansing, MI 48823.

Nominations will be reviewed by a community selection committee, comprised of East Lansing residents, and four recipients will be honored, including three in the community category and one in the business category. These recipients will be honored at a special public ceremony on Thursday, April 19 at 5 p.m. at ELHCC. The ceremony will be free and open to the public.
