EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Tri-County Environmental Leadership Awards (TCELA) program is currently seeking nominations for residents, businesses, governmental units, educational institutions and non-profit organizations that have shown leadership in implementing and promoting environmentally sustainable practices.

The Tri-County Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP) program is sponsored by recycling professionals in Eaton, Ingham and Clinton counties, including the City of East Lansing. The program was established in 2003 and since that time has recognized dozens of organizations in the region for their outstanding efforts. The mission of the awards program is to publicly acknowledge those who have demonstrated exemplary waste reduction, recycling efforts, energy/water conservation and pollution prevention practices.

Applications are available online at the City of East Lansing’s website, www.cityofeastlansing.com; City of Lansing’s website, www.lansingmi.gov; and at www.midmichiganrecycles.org. The deadline is March 15, 2012.
 
Applicants will be recognized at a special Earth Day luncheon on April 25 in East Lansing. Awards will be given to those with the most outstanding programs and accomplishments.

The Tri-County Waste Reduction Awards Committee consists of the following organizations: City of East Lansing; City of Lansing, Waste Reduction Services; Clinton County Department of Waste Management; Delta Township; Eaton County Department of Resource Recovery; Granger Recycling; Greater Lansing Area Clean Cities; Greater Lansing Go Green Initiative; Ingham County Health Department, Bureau of Environmental Health; Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council, and Meridian Township.
