EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing received accolades for its recently launched new Web site, www.cityofeastlansing.com, by fellow information technology professionals on Sept. 21.

The Michigan Government Management Information Sciences (Mi-GMIS), a professional organization for information technology professionals from government agencies across the state, awarded the City of East Lansing the 2009 “Best Web Site Award” at its annual conference last week.

“The City’s new Web site has become a vital communication tool for our residents and visitors.” said City Manager Theodore J. Staton. “This award is a testament to the hard work of the East Lansing staff that strives each day to make City information available to our constituents at the click of a mouse.”

The City of East Lansing launched its new site in early February 2009. The new site served as an upgrade of the City’s previous Web site, by way of graphic design, navigation and integration of Web 2.0 features. Today, the site contains more than 1,000 pages of content and receives more than 44,000 visits per month.
