EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing has switched back to no-fee online access for its assessing and property tax information, providing customers with more efficient 24/7 service.

Prior to this change, a $2 fee was charged to users accessing any online assessing and property tax information other than their own. With free online access, assessing and tax information can now be obtained more efficiently by visiting the Assessing Department’s section of the City’s website, www.cityofeastlansing.com, and clicking on “Property & Tax Bill Info Online.”

City officials believe this change will help reduce call volumes, increase website usage and improve customer service, while also providing barrier-free access to public records.

 
“Now, users who may have chosen to forgo the online fee in the past will not have to wait to call during business hours to acquire the information,” said East Lansing Assessor David Lee. “With that being said, personal service is still available for those who prefer to contact the City of East Lansing directly for their assessing and tax information”
