The Finance Department promotes sound policies & practices and facilitates the wise use of financial resources. We coordinate the budget process and prepare the annual budget document for presentation to the council and manage the annual audit and preparation of the comprehensive annual financial report. This department also acts as the Purchasing Agent for the City, processes biweekly payroll, performs risk management and maintains all liability insurance policies.

  • Accountability and Transparency - The City's Guide to Fiscal Status and PerformanceThe City recently compiled a Citizen's Guide and Performance Dashboard to provide residents with a transparent understanding of the organization's finances as well as financial and operating measures.
  • City Council Adopts FY11-12 Budget - Following a series of City Council budget work sessions as well as a public hearing, City Council adopted the FY 2011-2012 Budget on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.
  • East Lansing Receives AA+ Rating - the City of East Lansing was awarded excellent ratings by Fitch Ratings and Standard and Poor.
