Parking Permits

Don't worry about paying each time you park. Instead, purchase a monthly parking permit. Monthly parking permits are a great deal for customers that regularly park in downtown East Lansing.

Parking permits are sold by calendar month. Permits purchased prior to the 15th of the month are valid for the month they are purchased only. Beginning with the first business day on or after the 15th of the month, permits are pro-rated for the remaining days of the month. Parking permits for future months may be purchased in advance.

Where to buy: The permits can be purchased in the Treasury Department, located in City Hall, 410 Abbot Road. Please note that you will need to know the license plate number of your car at time of purchase.

How Access Cards work: The purchase of an access card is required for Lots 3, 9 and 10. You must use your access card every time you enter and exit the garage, even if the gates are up. You are required to use your card at two entrance gates and two exit gates. Any deviation from this sequence will result in an out-of-sequence error, causing your card not to work.

Where to park: Permit parking is located on the upper levels of the parking garage past the second entrance gate. You must access this upper parking area or you will be charged the hourly rate. The lower levels are for cash-paying customers only.

Renewal: It is your responsibility to renew your parking permit on time. We recommend you renew by the 25th of the month to be sure your permit remains active. Any permits not renewed prior to the first of the month will be assessed a $5 late fee. You may renew online at www.remit-online.com/517011

Replacement:
You are responsible for you access card(s) / permit(s). If damaged, lost or stolen, you will be required to purchase a new card for $10 (Lot 3, 9 or 10) or paper permits for $25.

Responsibility: The City of East Lansing is not responsible for any vehicle damage or theft while on City property. It is advised that you keep valuables out of sight and vehicles securely locked.
