SATURDAY ACTING ACADEMY
The Saturday Acting Academy takes place on Saturday morning. Each class is one hour long. The cost for the class is $50 for members and $65 for non-members. The final day of class will include a short performance from each class open to all family and friends who wish to attend. A letter regarding the final day of class will be sent home with students a few weeks ahead of time.

Session I:  Sept. 17 thru Oct. 22 (no class on 10/15)
Session II:  March 10 thru April 14

Class Descriptions:

Ages 4-5: Bodies at Play (10 - 11 a.m.) - Students will learn how to use their bodies, voices and facial expressions in meaningful ways in order to portray these characters onstage through a number of exercises and theater games.

     
Ages 6-8: Intro to Theater (10 - 11 a.m.) - Students will explore the many facets of drama on stage including body positioning, blocking, stage directions and character interaction. They will explore drama through a variety of theater games and basic scene work.

Ages 9-11: To the Stage (11 a.m.- noon) - Students will explore character building and advanced movement for the stage. They will also learn the basics of script breakdown and production planning.

Ages 12-14: Advanced Characterization (11 a.m. - noon) - Students will learn the art of becoming someone else and telling their story. By exploring various character archetypes students will explore the many traits that make us human or, in some cases, not so human. Through a series of theatre games and exercises, they will learn how professional stage actors "get into character."
