Welcome to the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPW). DPW provides engineering, sanitation, transportation, water and sewer services to the community. The mission of the department is to work as a team to provide the highest quality service to the community.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sewer Back-Up Info - if you discover a sewer back-up or overflow in your home, discontinue household water use and immediately call (517) 337-9459 Mon-Fri (8am-5pm) or ELPD's non-emergency line at (517) 351-4220 during non-office hours.
  • Yard Waste Collection (spring) - residents can dispose of curbside yard waste curbside beginning in April.
  • Project Pride -the annual community cleanup, which provides residents with an easy way to donate a number of common household items for recycling or reuse, will take place June 5 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Spring/Summer 2010 Curbside Journal - information on recycling, household refuse, special collections, events and more
  • Special Recycling Collections - information on special recycling collections such as computers, rechargeable batteries, athletic shoes, tires and phonebooks
  • Reporting Street Light Outages - Please note that the Board of Water and Light maintains streets lights throughout the City of East Lansing. To report any outages or problems please call BWL at (517) 702-6317.
