Welcome to the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPW). DPW provides engineering, sanitation, transportation, water and sewer services to the community. The mission of the department is to work as a team to provide the highest quality service to the community.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • GLRC Quarterly Newsletter - The Greater Lansing Regional Committee for Stormwater Management helps manage local watershed protection efforts. View the quarterly newsletter.
  • Spring/Summer 2010 Curbside Journal - information on recycling, household refuse, special collections, events and more
  • New Recycling Program for Rechargeable Batteries - the City recently launched a new recycling program for rechargeable batteries. Please note that the City no longer accepts alkaline batteries for recycling.
  • Special Recycling Collections - information on special recycling collections such as computers, athletic shoes, tires and phonebooks
  • Reporting Street Light Outages - Please note that the Board of Water and Light maintains streets lights throughout the City of East Lansing. To report any outages or problems please call BWL at (517) 702-6317.
