Tax Increment Financing, or TIF, is an economic development tool that the City of East Lansing has utilized in downtown and on brownfield sites throughout the City. The purpose of this tool is to leverage the increase in tax revenue that comes from development for purposes of supporting that development, either directly or with public infrastructure.
