Merchant Co-op Advertising
The DMB offers co-op advertising to downtown merchants during key times each year. Co-op advertising is often offered during “back to school” time in August and during the winter holidays. Matching funds may be available from the DMB to be used for advertising with local TV stations, radio stations and print media.
Downtown/Cultural Entrepreneurship Program
The Downtown/Cultural Entrepreneurship Program provides grants and/or loans to downtown businesses. The program is designed to support entrepreneurship in retail and art-related businesses. Financial assistance as part of the Downtown Entrepreneurship Program falls under two components: Microenterprise Assistance and Small Business Loans.
- Microenterprise Assistance is for businesses with five or fewer employees. The business owner must meet low to moderate income guidelines. The business owner will receive a grant or a loan depending on the nature of the request. A business owner can receive up to $6,000.
- Small Business Loans are offered through the DDA and are intended for larger capital needs. A business can receive up to $20,000 and there is no limit to the size of an eligible business. Businesses must demonstrate job creation and at least 51 percent of those jobs must be for low- to moderate-income individuals.
