National Night Out, Touch-a-Truck Event to Take Place TONIGHT, Aug. 7

EAST LANSING, Mich. —The 2014 Great Lakes Folk Festival will take place Aug. 8-10 in downtown East Lansing. Festival goers will be treated to music, dance and culture from across America and around the world, including three music stages, an international food court, a children’s hands-on activity area, craft vendors, a green arts marketplace and much more. It’s free. Visit www.greatlakesfolkfest.net.


The following streets will be closed from Friday, Aug. 8 at 5 a.m. until Sunday, Aug. 10 at 10 p.m:

- Abbot Road between Grand River Avenue & Elizabeth Street
- Albert Avenue between Evergreen & M.A.C. avenues
- M.A.C. Avenue between Albert Avenue & Linden Street

Parking Options

A number of municipal parking options are available. All parking garages and surface lots are open except for Albert Avenue Lot, 230 Albert Ave.

Handicap parking will be available adjacent to the festival site, including City Hall, 410 Abbot Road; the 300 block of M.A.C. Avenue in front of Saint John’s Student Parish and all remaining municipal lots.

The Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council coordinates a free Valet Bicycle Parking area located near the northeast corner of Albert and Evergreen streets.
