EAST LANSING, Mich. — One of the two victims transported to Sparrow Hospital following the Friday, Jan. 31 shooting in Cedar Village has died.


The deceased victim is Dominique James Nolff, a 20-year-old MSU student from Middleville, Mich. Nolff was pronounced dead at 9:23 a.m. this morning resulting from multiple gunshot wounds.


The second victim has been treated for a single gunshot wound and has been released from the hospital. The second victim is a 20-year-old MSU student from Grand Haven.


The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and the East Lansing Police Department’s Detective Bureau is working diligently to locate the suspect. More information will be released as the investigation progresses. 


Background Information
On Friday, Jan. 31 at 8:48 p.m. the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) responded to the 200 block of Cedar Street in East Lansing’s Cedar Village on a report of a shooting.


Upon arrival it was discovered that two victims had suffered gunshot wounds while inside their apartment. Both victims were transported to Sparrow Hospital.


The suspect is still at large. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20-25 years of age; wearing tan pants, a black coat and black shoes or boots.


ELPD has stated that the shooting does not appear to be a random act.
