Park Stewardship Volunteer Work Days

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members interested in the health of East Lansing’s natural spaces are encouraged to participate in upcoming park stewardship volunteer work days as part of the Environmental Stewardship Program.

The City’s ongoing Environmental Stewardship Program focuses on restoring the health of park biotic communities in East Lansing by removing problematic invasive plant species and replacing them with native species. Volunteering in this program helps restore parks and keeps the natural areas healthy for future generations to enjoy.

Community members interested in lending a hand at an upcoming volunteer work day can contact Brianna Huyck, the City’s current AmeriCorps service worker, at (616) 551-9008 or bhuyck@cityofeastlansing.com. The work days will take place at various park locations. Upcoming work dates are April 15, May 12, June 9, July 14, Aug. 11 and Sept. 8. There will also be special work days in honor of Earth Day on March 24, April 17 and April 22.
