The Records Bureau is responsible for processing all police incident and arrest paperwork. Copies of police reports may be obtained through the Records Bureau. In order to determine the status of a report, citizens should contact the Police Records Bureau at (517) 337-1731.

Freedom of Information Act Requests (FOIA) 
FOIA are subject to a fee for labor costs billed at a rate ranging from $5 to $7.50 per 15 minutes spent processing the request for all documents, photographs, video and audio recordings. Documents which are stored off-site are subject to an additional recovery charge ranging from $5 to $20 for each document requested.

Reports are either mailed out (postage will be charged as appropriate) or will picked up in person. No reports will be faxed. Insurance companies are directed to www.tracview.com for traffic accident/crash reports

* Citizens may be referred to the Detective Bureau by Records Bureau personnel, if their original police report was assigned to a detective. The Detective Bureau is responsible for follow-up investigation.
