Mary P. Sharp Sculpture RFP

The City of East Lansing Arts Commission is currently accepting proposals from artists interested in creating a commissioned work of public art for the City of East Lansing, Michigan.

The Arts Commission is seeking proposals for concepts for a public art sculpture, which will honor the legacy of former East Lansing Councilmember Mary P. Sharp. The sculpture will recognize Mary P. Sharp’s pioneering effort toward the advancement of justice and human dignity, as well as her vision of a society where there are no racial, ethnic, cultural or class stigmas.

PLEASE NOTE: The Arts Commission has re-issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for this project in order to solicit proposals that better reflect the life and legacy of Mary P. Sharp. The commission strongly encourages all artists to consider submitting a proposal or fine tuning prior proposals.

The East Lansing Arts Commission has an ongoing program for the placement of outdoor sculpture throughout the City of East Lansing. Artists can take an online virtual tour of public art found in East Lansing at www.cityofeastlansing.com/publicart.
