Project Pride is a community recycling project geared toward helping East Lansing residents clean up their homes and yards by recycling, or donating for reuse, common household items. East Lansing residents are eligible to participate in Project Pride and must bring proof of residency to the event.

 

Volunteers Needed

Project Pride is always in need of volunteers! Please contact Susan Schmidt at (517) 337-3247 or recycle48823@hotmail.com if you'd like to help out. All volunteers receive a T-shirt, stainless steel water bottle, food and beverages.

 

Pick-up for Seniors and Disabled
Curbside pick-up of recyclable items is available. Call the EL Prime Time Seniors Program at (517) 337-1113 by May 28 to schedule a pick up. All items for collection should be at the curb for pick-up.

 

Donations to Charitable Organizations
Check out which items Volunteers of America and Salvation Army will accept at www.voami.org and www.usc.salvationarmy.org/wmni.

 

New Items Collected

Project Pride will be accepting three new items this year, including 1) green glass bottles/jars, 2) unwanted medications* and 3) eyeglasses.

 

As a reminder, Project Pride will once again offer free electronics recycling and secure document shredding.

Project Pride reserves the right to use discretion in setting fees during the event and to reject excessive quantities of items for disposal.

- small tires (16” diameter or less) - $4
- large tires - $10
- tractor tires - $15
-Unusable Items (refuse) - $5 per item for disposal
-Lumber (no yard waste)
  $5 for small load
  $10 for small truck load
  $20 for large truck load

SPECIAL NOTES:

FREE Electronics Recycling - Valley City Recycling will be accept computer systems and accessories, audio/video equipment, handheld devices and office equipment.

 

** Medications and Prescriptions - Community members can properly dispose prescription or over-the-counter medicine. Vitamins & minerals will not be accepted. Medications from businesses such as doctors office, dental clinic and nursing homes cannot be accepted. Please black out any personal information.

 

*** In addition, room air conditioners and dehumidifiers (which contain Freon) can be dropped off for recycling for free this year thanks to a donation from the Lansing Board of Water & Light.
