Community volunteers are always needed to help the East Lansing Farmers Market (ELFM) grow and better serve the community! If interested in volunteering, fill out the ELFM Volunteer Application (PDF) and email it to Karla Forrest-Hewitt at khewitt@cityofeastlansing.com. All volunteers will be given a brief orientation.
Volunteer opportunities include the following:
Market Ambassadors - Market ambassadors help out during market days by greeting customers and gathering important data about the ELFM and its shoppers/vendors. This data will help the ELFM to obtain grants and funding. Volunteers can pick one or more market Sundays to work. The ELFM takes place every Sunday from June to October from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court. Market ambassadors are needed every Sunday.
Special Event Volunteers - When special events are hosted at the ELFM, volunteer help is needed to set up, tear down and assist with other activities. Special events include Opening Day, Autumn Fest and more.
Power of Produce Club - Community members can help children learn about food and empower them to make healthy eating choices by serving as a Power of Produce (POP) Club volunteer. The POP Club is a Farmers Market Coalition program that serves to help educate families/children and encourage them to visit farmers markets.
