Voter ID Cards

All registered voters in the City of East Lansing have now received a new voter ID card in the mail as required by law for Michigan’s redistricting process.

• The voter ID card is for a voter's informational purposes only. It does not need to be returned to the Clerk’s Office, nor does it need to be presented in order to vote. Voters may simply cut the card out and place it in their wallet or keep it handy to refer to as needed. Voters can also access their voter information online at www.mi.gov/vote.
  
  
• When voters receive their voter ID card in the mail, they should be sure to check their voter registration information, as changes from the redistricting process may have affected the districts in which they reside.

• The voter ID card also indicates the name and address for a voter's polling location. Voters may access additional information on the polling locations in East Lansing here.
  
  
• A date is also printed on the voter ID cards, above the flag. This date reflects the last time a voter's registration information was updated in the Michigan Qualified Voter File (QVF) due to redistricting or other updates to their information. 
  
  
• Please be advised that some residences will receive voter ID cards in the mail for voters who no longer live at those residences. If this happens, please mark “unknown” on the card and place it back in the mail to the City Clerk’s Office. By federal law, this allows the City Clerk to legally start the cancellation process. Additionally, please be advised that military and overseas voters may maintain their voter registration at the voter’s last known U.S. address, even if someone else is residing at that address or the physical residence is no longer there.
