The East Lansing Farmers Market (ELFM) accepts the SNAP/ Bridge cards at the market each Sunday. In addition, customers can stretch their dollars with Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) benefits.
SNAP/ Bridge Card Benefits
Customers can redeem their SNAP benefits at the ELFM by visiting the information booth during the hours of the market. After swiping SNAP/Bridge cards, recipients are given $1 wooden tokens to purchase eligible food products with participating vendors.
Double Up Food Bucks
In addition, ELFM offers Double Up Food Bucks benefits. The DUFB program "matches" SNAP/Bridge card dollars spent at farmer's markets. Whatever you spend on your SNAP/Bridge Card, you’ll get a dollar for dollar match (up to $20) in DUFB tokens that can be spent on fresh fruits and vegetables grown in Michigan. So, if you spend $20 on your SNAP/Bridge Card, you’ll get an extra $20 for FREE.
The DUFB program is an initiative of the Fair Food Network, which encourages healthier eating and provides greater access to fresh fruits and vegetables for low-income Michigan families.
