Want to Write Good -- Whoops Better?
Tuesday, September 19, 2017
Yes, grammar is important, but so are many other writing skills, such as description, setting, characterization, dialogue, pacing, the rule of three, syntax, the active
voice, right and left branching sentences, and many others. No matter what you want to write--fiction, nonfiction, memoir, essays, history--learning these skills and,
many more, will greatly improve your writing. This class will include lectures (short), in-class and at-home writing exercises, student readings (optional), handouts, feedback from participants and instructor, and "laughter breaks"-- for example: What is the definition of "Glibido"? Answer: All talk and no action."Frisbetarianism?" Answer: "The belief that, after death, the soul flies up onto the roof and gets stuck there." (From the Washington Post, Mensa Invitational.) I look forward to meeting you. Instructor Ray Thibeault
