[ARCHIVED] EL City Clerk’s Office Open Saturday to Issue, Receive Absentee Voter Ballots and Register Voters

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing City Clerk’s office, 410 Abbot Road, will have special hours this Saturday, Nov. 2 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. to register voters and issue and receive absentee voter (AV) ballots for the November 5, 2019 General City Election.

Community members are reminded that any registered voter may now request an AV ballot with no reason required. The last day to have an AV ballot mailed is Friday, Nov. 1 and the last day a registered voter can apply for an AV ballot and have it issued in person is Monday, Nov. 4 by 4 p.m. Those registering to vote on Election Day (those who aren’t already registered) will have the opportunity to receive and vote an AV ballot in person at the East Lansing City Clerk’s office.

All AV ballots must be returned to the City Clerk’s office (not a voter’s precinct) by 8 p.m. on Election Day. An AV ballot application and additional election information can be found at www.cityofeastlansing.com/elections. Applications can also be requested at the City Clerk’s office.

Eligible voters can also register to vote in person with proof of residency at the City Clerk’s office during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.) and during the special hours on Saturday, Nov. 2.

AV Ballot Drop Box at East Lansing City Hall

An AV ballot drop box is located in the north parking lot of East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road. The drop box provides residents with a convenient way to drop off AV ballot applications and AV ballots without having to exit their vehicles. The securely locked box is checked several times a day and is available 24/7.

  • Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. on Election Day.

  • By law, every Michigan voter must present picture i.d. at the polls or sign an affidavit attesting that they are is not in possession of a picture i.d. Learn more: http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-1633_8716-178123--,00.html.

  • Registered voters can visit www.Michigan.gov/vote to find out where they vote and to view their sample ballot. Voters can also call 866-OURVOTE.
