EAST LANSING, Mich. — Members of the media and community are invited to a special event hosted by the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan next week.
The MLK Commission, in partnership with Delta Dental of Michigan and the Eli & Edythe Broad Art Museum at MSU, will be announcing and unveiling the winners of the MLK Holiday Art Contest on Tuesday, Jan. 14 from 6-8 p.m. at the MSU Broad Art Lab, 565 E. Grand River Ave.
The MLK Holiday Art Contest invited students in grades 6-12 and adults to submit artwork that took into consideration the theme of this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Celebration: “There Comes A Time When Silence is Betrayal.”
Seven winners were selected, including 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the middle and high school categories and 1st place for the adult category. Prizes include $500, $350 and $150 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the middle and high school categories and $1,000 for the 1st place winner in the adult category.
The winners will be recognized at the Tuesday, Jan. 14 unveiling and all of the artwork submitted as a part of this year’s contest will be displayed at the MSU Broad Art Lab from Jan. 14-21.
