EAST LANSING, Mich. — The suspect arrested in connection to the alleged armed robbery and sexual assaults that took place at an East Lansing apartment complex last Friday, Jan. 24 was arraigned over the weekend.
Lamont James Rodgers, a 24-year-old Detroit resident, was arraigned in the Lansing 54A District Court on Sunday, Jan. 26 and has been formally charged with the following (all felony charges):
6 counts – Criminal Sexual Conduct, 1st Degree
3 counts – Armed Robbery
1 count – Home Invasion, 1st Degree
1 count – Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder by Strangulation
6 counts – Felony Firearm
Rodgers is being held without bond pending further court appearances.
Background
On Friday, Jan. 24 just after 6 a.m., ELPD officers responded to a report of an armed robbery and series of sexual assaults at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Abbot Road. ELPD arrested a suspect in connection to the case later that same day.
