EAST LANSING, Mich. — The majority of the City of East Lansing’s regularly scheduled, in-person public meetings will either be canceled or converted to special, electronic meetings during the month of July due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Currently, there are seven special meetings scheduled to take place electronically next week:
East Lansing Downtown Development Authority Executive and Finance Committee
Monday, July 20 at 11:30 a.m.
East Lansing Downtown Development Authority Project and Infrastructure Committee
Monday, July 20 at 12 p.m.
East Lansing Commission on the Environment
Monday, July 20 at 5:30 p.m.
East Lansing City Council
Monday, July 20 at 7 p.m.
The East Lansing City Council will be meeting for the purposes of discussing the appointment of a mayor pro tem, setting a public hearing for a special use permit for 605 M.A.C. Ave., discussing the city attorney request for proposals and discussing the process for new City Councilmember appointments.
East Lansing Board of Review
Tuesday, July 21 at 4 p.m.
The Board of Review meeting will be held for the purposes of correcting clerical errors, granting principal residence exemptions, considering poverty exemption applications and more. The Board of Review will also handle matters such as valuation and exemption appeals, which are normally only handled at the March sessions of the Board of Review. Appeals already denied in March will not be reheard or reconsidered. Property owners can make written appeals or make an appointment to make an appeal virtually during the meeting. These meetings will be held electronically pursuant to Executive Order 2020-154 issued by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. The public meeting notices, which include details on how to view the meetings and participate in public comment during the meetings, and agendas may be added to the City’s Electronic Meetings webpage, www.cityofeastlansing.com/electronicmeetings, or amended up to 18 hours prior to the meeting. The webpage will continue to be updated as new, special meetings are scheduled and public meeting notices are finalized.
