City of East Lansing to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at Patriarche Park

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the completion of an improvement project at the Patriarche Park baseball and softball fields on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. Patriarche Park is located at 960 Alton Road.

The Patriarche Park project was funded by a Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant and Fiscal Year 2020 income tax revenue. The improvements included the renovation of the four baseball and softball fields in the park, which included resurfacing the infields, replacing the backstops and installing player benches. Bike loops and trash and recycling containers were also installed, and accessible walkways were constructed for each field. Additionally, ADA parking spaces and pedestrian routes were identified for each field.

Speakers at the ribbon-cutting event will include East Lansing Mayor Aaron Stephens, East Lansing Parks, Recreation and Arts Director Tim McCaffrey and East Lansing Baseball Club President Alan Wilk.

Community members and members of the local media are welcome to attend. Attendance at the ceremony is limited to 100 people or fewer in compliance with Executive Order 2020-176 issued by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Masks and physical distancing will be required.
