East Lansing Arts Commission Now Accepting Applications for FY21 Cultural Arts Grant Program

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Arts Commission is currently accepting applications for its Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21) Cultural Arts Grant program.

The Cultural Arts Grant program supports high-quality public art projects that encourage artistic expression and public participation, with an emphasis on promoting cultural appreciation for Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities as well as the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersexual and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) community. The commission has up to $17,500 to allocate for FY21.

FY21 grant-funded projects and events must take place between November 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.

Examples of programs that received grants last fiscal year include the Concerto for Audience ($1,100), Brothers in Story and Song ($300), Community Dark Room 517 ($704) and Vivek Vellanki – Passport Photo Project ($1,050).

A webinar will be hosted via Zoom on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 11:30 a.m. to answer questions and provide technical assistance to applicants. Those interested in attending must RSVP to the event by emailing Heather Majano at hmajano@cityofeastlansing.com. Applications for FY21 Cultural Arts Grant funding must be received by Friday, October 23, 2020 at 5 p.m. to be considered.
