Validations Available for Downtown Parking Customers Impacted by Christmas Eve Programming Issue

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Due to a programming issue with the City of East Lansing’s downtown parking access controls, free parking was not available as originally planned in downtown East Lansing’s gated parking facilities for a portion of the day on December 24, 2020.  

Approximately 150 paid transactions occurred during the time the parking facility gates were operating in error. The value of these transactions was approximately $350.

Any business validations used by customers for that day will be automatically credited back and will not be included on monthly invoices. Additionally, parking customers who paid for hourly parking in the gated parking facilities on that day are eligible to receive a full-day parking validation for future use or a refund.
