EAST LANSING, Mich. — Tickets are on sale now for All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre’s (AECT) Young Playwrights Festival performance, which will be on stage one time only on Saturday, May 9 at 7 p.m. at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth and can be purchased at the ELHCC front desk. Twenty-three area youth, ages 8-18, from Dewitt, East Lansing, Grand Ledge, Haslett, Lansing, and Okemos make up the cast and crew of this latest AECT production. The production has been made possible by a grant from Michigan Council of Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) and the Arts Council of Greater Lansing.
In “The Journeys of Miss Pepper,” by 11-year-old Abby Murray, title character Pepper goes looking for her father and encounters both friends and foes on the journey. “The Fairy Tale Book,” by 12-year-old Ava Brewer, takes place in a land of make believe, where Alice, Peter Pan and Cinderella implore Daisy to be the next caretaker of the fairy tale world. And the final of the three tales, “Our Binding Flaws,” by 12-year-old Audrey Tieman, opens on Evelyn, a grieving widow, who speaks with Love, Life and Death to come to terms with her loss. Evelyn’s friend, James, and manifestations of her husband, Charles, assist in her recovery. All together, the evening will last about an hour and fifteen minutes, including an intermission, during which concessions will be available.
