[ARCHIVED] Summer Concert Series Kicks off Six Weekends of Live Music in Downtown East Lansing June 12-13

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing will kick off the Summer Concert Series in downtown East Lansing the weekend of June 12-13 with Gifts or Creatures with Sam Corbin and the Sea Cruisers. It’s FREE.

The Summer Concert Series, featuring six weekends of live music, takes place on Fridays and Saturdays from 7-9 p.m. in Ann Street Plaza from June 12 through Aug. 1. The concerts will be canceled in the event of rain. Bring a lawn chair and dancing shoes!

Ann Street Plaza is located on the corner of Albert and M.A.C. avenues. The plaza is home to a large pedestrian-friendly area, a permanent covered stage, an outdoor fireplace and other amenities. Enjoy outdoor dining at surrounding restaurants, including Hopcat, Peppino’s and El Azteco. Bring a lawn chair and dancing shoes!

Friday, June 12: Gifts or Creatures with Sam Corbin
Gifts or Creatures is the musical pursuit of husband-wife Brandon and Bethany Foote. The couple fuses a blend of Midwestern folklore, old world history and cinematic soundscapes to create a trove of antique Americana. They will be joined by guitarist and vocalist Sam Corbin. They are all active members of Michigan's Earthwork Music Collective.

Saturday, June 13: Sea Cruisers
For more than 25 years, The Sea Cruisers have been performing their own style of rock and roll. Playing music from the 50's, 60's and 70's, the Sea Cruisers continue to entertain audiences from the young to the young at heart Their song list covers everything from Fats Domino and Ray Charles to Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels.

The 2015 lineup also includes: Summer Solstice Jazz Festival (June 19-20, Stella (Friday, June 26), Root Doctor (Saturday, June 27), Swift Brothers (Friday, July 10), Taylor Taylor (Saturday, July 11), Kathleen & the Bridge Street Band (Friday, July 17), May Erlewine (Saturday, July 18), Dragspel feat. Mike Lynch & Rob Klajda (Friday, July 24), Deacon Earl & The Congregation (Saturday, July 25), Cuatro Sur (Friday, July 31) and Greg Nagy (Saturday, Aug. 1).
