EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing will kick off two popular community event series the first full week of July.
Play in the Park
Play in the Park, an interactive children’s entertainment series, will begin Tuesday, July 7 and continue every Tuesday at 7 p.m. through July 28 in Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court Park. It's free!
The series kicks off will present Creative Dance with Mary Jane Gamble on Tuesday, July 7 at 7 p.m. Creative Dance instructor, Mary Jane Heppner-Gamble, will teach creative dance movements, using rhythm and music in a playful outdoor program.
Play in the Park features Storyteller Karen Czarnik on July 14, Superhero Science with Michigan Science Center on July 21 and Guy Louis Summer Concert on July 28.
Moonlight Film Festival
The Moonlight Film Festival, an outdoor film series, will begin Thursday, July 9 and continue every Thursday through Aug. 13 in Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court. The series takes place at 9:30 p.m. in July and 9 p.m. in August. Bring a blanket, sleeping bag or lawn chair and enjoy a night under the stars. Live music begins one hour prior to the film. It's free!
The series kickoff will feature “Into the Woods” (PG) on Thursday, July 9 at 9:30 p.m. This modern fairy tale puts a twist on many beloved classics. Follow as a baker and his wife attempt to reverse a curse, running into familiar characters like Cinderella, Jack and the Bean Stock and Little Red Riding Hood along the way. At 8:30 p.m., local musician Taylor Taylor will perform.
The Moonlight Film Festival will feature Jurassic Park (PG) on July 16, Big Hero 6 (PG) on July 23, Ernest and Celestine (NR) on July 30, Cinderella (PG) on August 6, Pitch Perfect (PG-13 edited) on August 13. Films are at 9:30 p.m. in July and 9 p.m. in August.
