EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Greater Lansing Taxi Authority (GLTA) will hold a public hearing on its Draft Operating Rules & Regulations tomorrow, July 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lansing City Council Chambers of Lansing City Hall, 124 Michigan Ave.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the Draft Operating Rules & Regulations and receive public comment. The meeting is open to all interested members of the public.
GLTA’s Draft Operating Rules & Regulations, governing taxi operations in the region, were approved on June 3, 2015 and were available for public review/comments online through July 6, 2015. The public hearing is another avenue for the public to share feedback. The GLTA was created by the cities of Lansing and East Lansing in September 2014. The purpose of the GLTA is to engage in a uniform regional regulatory structure for taxi companies and drivers that will provide consistency and ensure that a safe and professional fleet serves Greater Lansing residents and visitors. The expansion of the authority allows for the regulatory structure to encompass the contiguous metro area of Greater Lansing area, serving approximately 270,000 people.
Delhi, Delta and Meridian townships also recently joined the GLTA and Michigan State University has joined as a non-voting member of the board.
