EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing City Council presented its 2023 Crystal Awards at a reception on April 27 at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center.
This year’s Crystal Awards honorees are:
- Jan and John Munn, East Lansing realtors who have long been active volunteers with East Lansing Public Schools.
- Laura LeDuc, co-founder of and avid volunteer with Trojan Aquatics.
- Skin Studio 211, the first-ever Crystal Award winner in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging category.
- St. Vincent de Paul-St. John’s Church Student Center, honored for feeding the community with their food cupboard.
East Lansing City Councilmember George Brookover served as the emcee for the event, which was also attended by East Lansing Mayor Ron Bacon. MSU-based solo jazz guitarist Ben Turner provided the musical entertainment at the event, which was attended by approximately 70 community members.
The Crystal Awards program has been hosted annually since 1988. It seeks to honor the unsung heroes that make East Lansing a better community.
