EAST LANSING, Mich. – The City of East Lansing’s Community Events program will continue the week of July 27 with a family concert, a movie in the park and two live music performances in downtown East Lansing. All events are FREE!

Play in the Park
Play in the Park, an interactive children’s entertainment series, will feature a Guy Louis Summer Concert on Tuesday, July 28 at 7 p.m. Families are invited to the park to enjoy an all-out, all-ages summer concert bash with Guy Louis and the Chautauqua Express.

Moonlight Film Series
The Moonlight Film Series, a film series featuring movies on a large outdoor screen, will take place on Thursday, July 30 and will continue every Thursday through Aug. 13 in Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court. The series takes place at 9:30 p.m. in July and 9 p.m. in August. Bring a blanket, sleeping bag or lawn chair and enjoy a night under the stars. Live music begins one hour prior to the film.

“Ernest & Celestine” (NR) will be shown on Thursday, July 30 at 9:30 p.m. The film is presented by the East Lansing Film Festival. The film tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a bear, Ernest and a young mouse named Celestine. The film was nominated by the Academy Awards in the category of Best Animated Feature Film of the Year. Mighty Medicine will perform prior to the film at 8:30 p.m.

The Moonlight Film Festival will also feature Cinderella (PG) on August 6 and Pitch Perfect (PG-13 edited) on August 13.

Summer Concert Series
The Summer Concert Series, featuring six weekends of live music, will continue on Fridays and Saturdays through Aug. 1 in downtown East Lansing. The music series takes place from 7-9 p.m. in Ann Street Plaza. The concerts will be canceled in the event of rain.

Cuatro Sur will perform on Friday, July 31 from 7-9 p.m. in Ann Street Plaza. Cuatro Sur’s sound is inspired by Spanish and Latin American traditional music. Both members of the East Lansing-based duo – Norberto Aguado and Miguel Cabanas – are originally from Spain.

Greg Nagy will perform on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 7-9 p.m. in Ann Street Plaza. Nagy, born in Flint, Michigan, is one of today’s leading American roots musicians. He is a multi-faceted artist in the most classic sense – his songwriting, singing and guitar playing beautifully reveal Greg’s personalized blues; music refreshingly and honestly infused with elements of the soul, R&B, rock and gospel.
