EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing’s National Night Out, Touch-a-Truck event will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the East Lansing Public Library (ELPL), 950 Abbot Road.

This popular annual event offers free fun for the entire family, while promoting community safety and awareness. The event will feature interaction with local police officers and firefighters, activities, food and plenty of vehicles to explore. Children can explore a fire engine and ambulance from the East Lansing Fire Department, police cars and motorcycles from the East Lansing Police Department, a CATA bus and trolley, an East Lansing Department of Public Works recycling truck, a bucket truck, a snow plow, two tow trucks and motorcycles brought by the Bikers For Books. For young animal lovers, there will be an ELPD K9 officer and dog at the event as well as deputies and horses from the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Unit.

WKAR's Curious Crew will also be at the event, offering interactive science activities, and many safety-oriented community organizations will be in attendance as well. Children are encouraged to come dressed in their superhero outfit to participate in a Superhero Obstacle Course.

The library and parking lot will close at 5 p.m. to prepare for this all-ages, community-building event. The event will take place regardless of road construction in the area; visit www.cityofeastlansing.com/construction for construction updates. Parking for the event will be available at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road.
