EAST LANSING, Mich. — A suspect wanted by the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) on six counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct was arrested in Los Angeles, Calif. on Friday, Sept. 4 by the U.S. Marshals Service. The suspect is 26-year-old Mikael Alexandre Frutin.
ELPD began its investigation into this CSC case back in July 2014. Frutin was accused in July 2014 of having an illegal sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl. Frutin was the victim’s gymnastics instructor at Red Cedar Gymnastics in Delhi Township; however, none of the alleged crimes happened at Red Cedar Gymnastics.
Frutin became aware of ELPD’s investigation and fled the state. ELPD, along with the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team, have been working since the investigation began to track down and arrest Frutin. A recent tip was received in Madison, Wis., notifying authorities that Frutin was possibly in California, where he was arrested last Friday.
Frutin will be extradited back to Michigan, where he will be arraigned at a later date. At this time, it is unknown when Frutin will arrive back in Michigan. Additional information, including his arraignment date, will be provided when it becomes available.
