EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Prime Time Seniors’ Program will host its annual Health & Wellness Fair on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 9:00 a.m.-noon at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road.
Participants can receive their annual flu and pneumonia shots, provided by Rite Aid Pharmacy. Both normal and high-dose flu shots will be available. Flu shots start at $39.99 and pneumonia shots start at $99.99, unless covered fully or partially by health insurance. Those receiving vaccinations should be sure to bring their insurance information with them to the event. Participants can also receive the following free screenings: hearing, pulse oximetry, glucose levels, grip and pinch strength and blood pressure.
Numerous vendors will also be in attendance with important information relevant to staying active, healthy and happy in the later years of life, including retirement communities, health care services, legal services, in-home care, diabetic footwear, nonprofits and many others. There will also be an opportunity to win door prizes provided by vendors.
After the Health & Wellness Fair, participants can enjoy a luncheon and presentation by Sen. Gretchen Whitmer. Sen. Whitmer had a notable record as a health rights advocate during her time in office and will speak on the continuing challenges in public service and specific challenges facing Michigan. The luncheon begins at noon in the Banquet Hall of ELHCC and the cost is $7. Participants are asked to make reservations for the luncheon in advance, as space is limited.
