EAST LANSING, Mich. – The MSU Homecoming parade will be held in downtown East Lansing on Friday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. The parade will feature musical arranger and orchestrator William Brohn as the grand marshal. This year’s theme is “Spartans Take the World Stage.”
The parade will begin at the intersection of Abbot and Burcham at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center and travel south on Abbot; east on Grand River; south on Farm Lane via the Collingwood Entrance; and end at the intersection of Farm and Shaw.
These East Lansing streets and their intersections will be closed Friday, Oct. 2:
? Abbot between Whitehills/Oxford and Burcham from 2:30-7 p.m.
? Abbot between Burcham and Grand River from 5:30-7:15 p.m
? Burcham between Old Hickory and Abbot from 3:30-7:15 p.m
? Grand River between Abbot and Collingwood Entrance from 5:30-7:15 p.m.
These streets near the East Lansing Hannah Community Center will also be closed:
? Centerlawn from Forest to Abbot from 2:30-7 p.m.
? Evergreen from Centerlawn to Northlawn from 2:30-7 p.m.
? Forest from Centerlawn to Northlawn from 2:30-7 p.m.
? Fern from Evergreen to Abbot from 2:30-7 p.m.
? Northlawn from Forest to Abbot from 2:30-7 p.m.
Important! The East Lansing Hannah Community Center will close at 12 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2. The parking lot will be used for parade staging. The East Lansing Public Library will close at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 due to the street closures.
Other street closures and alternate routes
All roads southbound off Albert between Durand and Abbot will be closed to thru traffic. Some roads leading to Abbot (Library, Centerlawn and Northlawn) will also be closed to thru traffic. Eastbound and westbound traffic should take Saginaw. Northbound and southbound traffic should take either Harrison or Hagadorn.
